Sprinkler systems are designed to protect people and structures. But when it comes to protecting high value equipment, electronics, and irreplaceable documents, water can be more damaging than the fire itself! We have multiple products that provide solutions to protecting your valuable property / assets.

Pre-Action Sprinkler Systems

Many times, local fire code requires that sprinklers be installed in your critical spaces. When water leaks are a concern, pre-action sprinklers offer a great alternative to regular water sprinklers.

Unlike regular sprinklers, pre-action sprinklers keep water out of your critical space with an automatically controlled valve. Only supervisory compressed air is inside the sprinkler pipe during normal operation. In the event of a leak in the piping network, compressed airNOT WATERescapes the pipe. Learn more

CLEAN AGENT FIRE SUPPRESSION

When it comes to protecting high value  equipment, electronics, and irreplaceable documents, water can be more damaging than the fire itself!

Take a moment to view this video on protecting Mission Critical Facilities.

Water-based fire sprinklers are designed to protect building structures—not your critical assets such as electronic equipment, data, or even collectibles and irreplaceable artifacts. We offer a wide range of products and solutions to protect your valuable property / assets without the damage caused by typical sprinkler systems.

A clean agent fire suppression system is the superior, cost-effective choice for protecting electronics and high-value assets – reducing the threat of costly downtime and business interruption. Since the elimination of Halon from the market in 1992, many alternative products have come to market. CFCs, Halons, and other chemicals are destroying the vital ozone layer that protects us. Our Clean Agent Fire Protection Systems feature the non-ozone depleting clean agents providing our customers with the fire protection they need and still protecting the earth’s precious ozone layer. We provide numerous alternative clean agents for you to consider.

The American Innovation and Manufacturing Act (AIM Act) was enacted by Congress in late 2020 as part of the Consolidation Appropriations Act (Coronavirus Stimulus Package)

This Act requires the phasedown of HFC chemicals beginning January 1, 2022 by 10% with a total phase down of 85% by January 2036. This phasedown affects two fire suppression agents: FM-200 (HFC-227ea) and ECARO-25 (HFC-125). Learn more

We have a presentation that discusses the AIM Act in great detail. To schedule an appointment please contact us or call us at: (714)257-2244.

Clean Agent Options

Since its European introduction in 2003, Fike’s innovative ProInert® has become widely accepted as one of the best performing, most cost-effective, and environmentally friendly inert gas fire extinguishing systems. Since 2009 this same technology is available in the United States, and other parts of the world requiring UL and FM approval. ProInert systems using IG-541 and IG-55 are not affected by the HFC phasedown and have a Zero Ozone-Depletion Potential and a Zero Global Warming Potential. Learn more

3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid / FK-5-1-12

NOVEC® 1230 fluid is an effective fire extinguishing agent in standard fire scenarios where halons historically have been. The agent is stored in cylinders in its fluid form, and instantly vaporizes upon discharge as a clear, colorless, low odor liquid that is super-pressurized with nitrogen and stored in high-pressure cylinders. NOVEC® 1230 is not affected by the HFC phasedown and has a Zero Ozone-Depletion Potential and a Global Warming Potential of less than one. Learn more

Introduced to the market in 2004 by Fike, ECARO-25 is an electrically non-conductive, non-corrosive fire suppression agent that is free of residue and has a zero ozone-depletion potential. ECARO-25 systems are affected by the HFC phasedown.  The agent is currently available and has no restrictions on its use.  Learn more

The first clean agent brought to the market in 1994 was Dupont™ FM-200®. Introduced as an alternative to the ozone-depleting Halon agents, FM-200® received quick attention and acceptance as the next fire suppression agent. FM-200®systems are affected by the HFC phasedown.  The agent is available and has no restrictions on it use.  Due to limited supply of the agent, costs may make this a less than attractive alternative to the other agents. Learn more

Alternative Fire Suppression Solutions

CARBON DIOXIDE (CO2)

CO2 has long been recognized as an effective suppression agent in non-occupied environments, especially effective for local application protection of equipment. CO2 is an environmentally friendly, colorless, odorless, electrically non-conductive agent that continues to be used heavily in industrial applications. Learn more

Water Mist & Hybrid Suppression Systems

Before we get into the systems that we represent, let’s first understand how these systems work to control / extinguish fires.

How water mist fights the fire chemical process:

  • Inerting: Steam is created when water is evaporated. Steam is an inert gas which does not take part of the oxidation process. It therefore helps reduce the amount of oxygen in the vicinity of the fire since it replaces the “normal” atmosphere. The more inert gas kept close to the fire, the better the performance is.
  • Cooling: The small water droplets are easily evaporated since they have a large surface area per volume water. When water is evaporated, it costs energy, and this energy is taken away from the fire. Since the energy source is removed from the fuel surface, no additional flammable gases can be created. Doing so enables the fire to suffocate itself.
  • Fuel Wetting: Some of the distributed water droplets will cover the fuel surface and prohibit flammable gases to be created: the more water distributed on the fuel, the more effective it becomes.

The Fike MicroMist® fire suppression system produces a fine mist to extinguish fires quickly, with very little residual water. In fact, the MicroMist system releases 100 times less water than traditional sprinkler systems, yet effectively extinguishes the fire! That translates into less run-off, less damage, and easy clean-up. Learn More

Fike’s DuraQuench pumped water mist system brings the benefits of water mist fire suppression within reach of most budgets and over the widest possible range of applications. Learn more
