This major supplier of co-location space was looking to build a facility in the San Francisco Bay Area. They wanted to have the most technologically advanced fire detection and monitoring system available to protect their customers’ valuable information technology equipment and data.
They interviewed several major suppliers of fire alarm systems in the Bay Area. They paid particular attention to the experience and capabilities of the vendor necessary to support their project starting from the design all the way through the equipment selection, installation, commissioning and after market maintenance and warranty support.

Often times, standard smoke detectors alone are not enough to get the job done. Many critical facilities have special circumstances such as high rates of air flow, limited service access, high levels of ambient dust, or special fuel sources. In this case, very early warning smoke detection is required. Air Sampling Systems are used to quickly detect the products of combustion well before a standard smoke detector is designed to respond.
One of the keys to fire prevention is situational awareness of a trouble or fire condition. Just hearing an alarm is not enough. The user needs to know more than that. They need to know the details such as the nature of the alarm and where it’s located. This is why this client chose to use the Fike Precise Vision graphical annunciator. This system displays the details of alarms such as the specific device type, alarm type, and location in an intuitive touch screen display. Alarms and trouble conditions are simultaneously displayed in the command center and the lobby.
